100 Fresh and Fun Handmade Cards

This was such a fun book to create! I wanted to take the basic card book that I did last and step it up a notch. In this book you will find a great basic card and then you will find a way to make it an interactive card.

For example, the card on the front cover that is a pinwheel -- in the basic card we show you how to create the fun pinwheel embellishment. With the interactive card we show you how to create a spinner card so the pinwheel can spin around in circles right on the front of your card. :)

Big thanks go out to some amazing designers that agreed to create cards for this book: Kelly Goree, Nichol Magouirk, Sarah Hodgkinson, Kim Hughes, Lisa Dorsey, Lily Jackson, Rae Barthel and Summer Fullerton.

The book will be released around March 1st. You can pre-order it on Amazon.com right now.

I'll also be ordering some books to sell direct in case you'd rather buy one direct from me. :)

Playing Catch-Up!

I've had a lot of card making going on and no sharing over here. Sorry about that!

1st up are the cards I created with the December kit at The Card Kitchen.

The kits have been so fun to play with. Nothing better than a kit full of great products for card-making delivered right to your door!

Next up are 2 cards I created for a cross-promotion with Jillibean Soup and Petaloo.

The Petaloo flowers were something different to put with the Jillibean goodies I'd been using. Totally a fun cross-promotion!

2 new teaching dates in Ohio

I'll be teaching at Simply Scrapbooks in Dayton, OH on Saturday, November 12th with Jill from Jillibean Soup. (Times and Prices to be announced soon)

We'll also be teaching a combined class of gifts for the holidays. My portion of the class will be creating a fun paper bag advent calendar.

I will also be teaching the Flowers Can BLOOM All Year card class on Saturday, December 3rd at a NEW store in Lancaster, OH that opens November 1st -- Scrapbooks 2 Cherish. I'll teach the same class twice that day since it is a small store and seating is limited. (Times and Prices to come SOON).

Swimming for Katie blog hop and fundraiser

If you haven't heard the story of Katie before hitting my blog, here's a bit of background.

Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year. This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight. A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer. The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post:http://katiespaperhaven.blogspot.com/2011/09/ive-been-swimming-but-it-hasnt-been.html

Her post reminded me of Finding Nemo: “Don’t give up! Just keep swimming! Keep swimming…just keep swimming…” because that was the only way to survive and escape from the fisherman’s net. When Becky Oehlers (she designed the adorable image) and I chatted about this, it seemed like a good route to go and to just encourage Katie to “Keep swimming” for her own survival, just like the fish. The little octopus reminds me of a cheerleader pom-pom too, which is also encouraging.

Marianne (the Copic Queen) has also donated a digi that will be for sale.

It took me all of 2 seconds to agree to be a part of this hop for Katie. I can't image what she's going through. And if me making a card to inspire you to buy a stamp or digi download to help her and her family, I'm in.

Good Morning! I hope you had a great Labor Day here in the states. Our weekend was a bit crazy in the weather department. We went from 100 degress on Saturday to a high of 70 degrees on Monday. Crazy! But don't get me wrong, I WELCOME Fall! MUCH MUCH better than the horrible heat.

Yesterday, 2 of my cards went live over on Two Peas. I played with the Simple Stories Happy Days collection pack. There are some cool papers and stickers in there that work perfectly for cards.

Sneak's of Crop and Create classes in Canada!

It's time to finally share a few peeks at the 2 classes I will be teaching at Scrapbook & Cards Today's event Crop & Create in Saskatoon!

Both of my classes are card classes.

The 1st one is a Christmas card class where we will make cards the shake, pop and of course hold great things like gift cards and cold hard cash.

The 2nd class is creating 6 different flowers from ribbons, fabric, zippers, paper, felt and more. We will also create simple cards to put these flower embellishments on OR you can simply glue a pin back on them and wear them home. ;)

This was another one of my cards for Two Peas this month. I have been LOVING the grey and yellow color combinations I have been seeing around the home dec world. I wanted to try it on a card of course!

This one was such an easy card. I just grabbed some scraps of cardstock in varying shades of yellow and added them to a grey pattern paper panel. Then added the butterfly stickers with foam squares and bent the wings up for dimension. That's about it! Easy!

Jillibean Soup -- Hearty Barley

For CHA I used the new Kraft mini line Hearty Barley. There are 4 pieces of Kraft pattern paper, coordinating cardstock stickers and die cut sheet.

Love this line! The piece at the bottom that says 'Sending You Hugs & Kisses' comes from a sheet that has 12 mini cards on it that you can cut out to make valentine's for kids!

So cute!

This line is shipping November 1st. I have some more cards that I created with this line that I will post up here after they are shown on the Jillibean blog.

New Unity Stamp Co Jillibean Soup stamps!

I had a lot of card samples to make in a short period of time. To stream line a bit, I decided to create 3 mini cards with ea. stamp set. All cards measure 3"x3".

1st up Apple Cheddar Soup stamp set.

Next up is the Christmas Eve Chowder stamp set.

The next set is the Handmade 6 Bean Soup stamp set.

And finally, the last set is the Sweet and Sour stamp set.

Whew! And yes, there are still more projects to share. Probably sometime next week.

My new home!

Well, it's about 90% done. The new 'office'. I've been down in the basement for the past 4 years and my sweet husband agreed to switch spaces with me. A quick trip to IKEA to pick up the pieces I'd been eyeing and a gallon of paint... I now have a new home.

and I LOVE it!

Here are some pictures of the new scraproom. It's not a huge room. About 11x12. There is no closet so I had to make all my storage count. Before you ask... the rug is from target.com. :)

I've gotten a few emails asking about where and when I may be teaching card classes this spring.

I will have 2 SIMPLE yet fun card classes I will be teaching a few times over the next couple of months.

Both classes are using NEW Jillibean Soup and Core Impressions by Core'dinations. We'll be making 8 cards in each class. You'll also leave with a lot of extra stickers and die cuts to make many more cards. Perfect for filling your box of cards to give.

These are great classes to bring a friend or daughter along. Perfect for beginners to learn how to make cards or more advance card makers to build their supply.

Memory Makers Blog Bounce!

What fun! Today we are doing something new with different friends of Memory Makers books -- A Blog Bounce aka a blog hop.

The theme was simple -- Valentine's Day or some derivation of love. ;)

Perfect timing! I needed to either make some cards to give my kids for Valentine's Day or make a set of Valentine's Day cards for my kids to give to their classmates next week. Since my son wanted to give out Star Wars themed cards, I went for the easier to please child. ha!

I grabbed the scrap white card stock I had sitting on my desk from making cards the other day and cut out 4x3" pieces. Then simply stamped images on them using the Mint Motif Sweet Hearts set. The open designs in this set are perfect to be colored in.

Bags and stickers are from Target ;)

On the back of each card I wrote 'To:' and 'From:' plus 'a card for your to color'. My daughter then addressed each one to her classmates. We added a fun sticker and 2 crayons in a little bag with the valentine card. Her classmates can then color their cards when they get home. We aren't allowed to give out candy at school so this is the next best thing. What Kindergartener doesn't love to color?

I also created 2 teacher cards for her teacher and aide. These were then colored by my daughter for her teachers. So cute!

SUPER easy project and I just simply used scraps of white cardstock.

Today we had a few options of what we wanted to use and it looks like the majority of the team busted out the new Marah Johnson stamps.

I grabbed the frame from this set:

I stamped it with gold ink and then colored in the center with grey Copics and the frame with a gold Spica marker. It created the coolest mirror effect. Love it!

Mint Motif January Release Sneak Peek

I was thrilled to have been asked to be a Guest Designer for Mint Motif this month. I met the designer of Mint Motif stamps, Kimberly Crawford, a year or so ago. She's is such a kind person. She is now creating beautiful, clean and simple stamp sets. RIGHT up my alley!

Good Thursday! I hope you all have been having a great time getting ready for Christmas and have and/or are spending a lot to time with your friends and family. We've been a mad house of cookie making, snow playing and Christmas movie watching fools here.

I managed to sneak a few moments in to create a quick card using the December Kit of the Month. SUPER cute kit but my favorite stamp is the snowman I used on this card. Is he not the cutest?!

This month always has so much to do and never enough time. I was talking to my husband the other day and said I needed to get my thoughts together and get my cards designed and made. He asked me how many Christmas cards I had made through out the year because I may be surprised at how many I have done already.
Hmmmm.... never thought of that. So I went down to my big 'ol box of cards and sure enough I had almost 50 different Christmas cards already done! Score!!!
Granted they aren't all the same but does that really matter? Will my mom and my Sister-in-Law compare what card they received? Nope. So don't tell them, k? ;)

Before I get started... Did you see all the incredible stuff going down at Unity lately? Tons of co-branding with the hottest companies out there plus (what I think) is the best part... YOU CAN BUY ANY AND ALL UNITY STAMPS DIRECT FROM UNITY NOW!!!! Plus you can always count on them for SOME sort of deal so make sure you hit the Unity blog to see what's on sale and get shopping!

Ok, so today's themes were either making ornaments or a kids craft. I went with the kids craft route.
I made a little coloring book to toss in my purse that will be my secret weapon when the kids get antsy while we run errands during the holiday season.

All I did was grab a handful of my past kits and white cardstock. Then I stamped away on 4x5" of white cardstock with black ink. Finally, I made a simple cover and back from chipboard and bound it with a small binder ring. SO simple. I always have a small bag of crayons in my purse anyways to keep the kids occupied at restaurants so this will be a perfect addition.
