Day at the track

This is the 1st year that I had even considered taking both kids down to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the month of May. (tends to be a bit crazy down there!)

With Pole Day on Saturday and a rain out for practices the last 2 days, I figured we better do it while we had the chance. We picked Andrew up from school and then drove down to the track. The traffic was backed up horribly so we took the 1st lot we could find to park and started walking.

Once in the track, I couldn't BELIEVE the changes there. It's been at least 5 years since I had been down there if not longer. The buildings and the grounds look beautiful. The crowd wasn't too bad today, I am guessing it was because the weather wasn't that great. We were only actually at the track for a little over an hour since it was cold and it looked like it was about to rain. (It did start to rain shortly after we left).

Before we left, the kids requested a little something from the gift shop. Laura picked out a Race Flag and Andrew picked out a Dan Wheldon Target race car. He was eyeing the Dario winning car from last year too. Tough choices.

In case Aunt Janet reads my blog, Happy cough38thcough Birthday!!!

The video is for you Bill, there is something about the sound of those cars going around the track that is just so cool!
