Thank you God for the best gift of all this year.... bringing my husband home for Christmas. Thank you for protecting him while he was deployed this year, and thank you for providing support and a home for Audrey and I while Daddy was gone.

10:08 AM

Summer and ALL of you, I was so touched by what everyone wrote to 'thank' those that did something so kind for them this past year. Aren't good friends and supportive families such a blessing?
I know there is NO WAY I could have survived this this deployment with out my amazing friends (both local and online) as well as my family and Bill's family. While none of our family lives in state, they made every effort possible to be there for us when we needed their help.
Sooo... onto this week's giveaway. I was so fortunate to have been asked to contribute to Tami Mayberry's 2nd book. CardMaker SketchBook -- Birthday Celebrations. This book has a ton of card sketches and at least 2 examples of finished cards for each sketch. Such a great thing to use to jump start your cardmaking.

How about you leave a comment with the sweet treat you eat on your birthday by next Wednesday night (Jan. 14th) I will post the winner on Thursday morning.

I am ALL about the Coscto Sheet cakes! YUM! And my birthday is a day after my son's next month. I think we need one this year. :)

Have a good one!

Hmm, for me, I always end up having to buy my own (but that's ok, then I'm sure I like it!). This year was the Vanilla Patisserie cake from Trader Joe's -yummmmmm! Thanks for the chance, Kimber!

This is a milestone year for me, and my Birthday is in July, so I think I'll have to go for an Ice Cream Cake from Dairy Queen!

Oooh I love birthday cake! My favorite is a yummy yellow cake with chocolate frosting! My sweet friend Christyn made me the yummiest cake last year!
Looks like a great book!

A fave treat that my whole family likes is this fruit tart from La Madeleine's - a "French" bakery that's actually a chain! It has custard on the bottom of it, w/ all sorts of fruits - grapes, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries. Amazingly, it has NO chocolate, which is what I usually love -but it's just delish! Even my picky husband eats it. So - when they gave me one for my Bday last year, I was surprised, but so happy!

My favorite is oatmeal cake. Sometimes I get one if I am in the mood to make one. I think I will make one today even though it is not my birthday. Thanks for the contest and the great giveaway.

My mom still makes me a cake every year...sometimes it's HoHo Cake, sometimes it's Better Than Anything Cake...I like being surprised. Will definitely have to check out the cool book!

Sheet cakes are yummy, but I really love Turtle Cake - it's a recipe I first found in a Pampered Chef cookbook. It's chocolate cake with a caramel layer inside and nuts and chocolate chips sprinkled over the top!

My favorite cake is Red Velvet. My husband goes to great lengths to find the bakery that makes it just right so that I don't have to bake my own birthday cake. A sweet treat!

My birthday was yesterday, and I had Cookies & Cream Ice Cream! I usually like to have a Dairy Queen cake, but that will have to wait until this weekend ;)

Oh Kimber, be prepared to salivate!! My favorite birthday treat is Red Velvet Cake: a "red" chocolate cake with cream cheese and nut icing! AND, in Florida, Publix Groceries last year had a Red Velvet Cake ice cream! You could see the bits of cake and tast the cream cheese! TO DIE FOR!!!

I would love to win your book - thanks for giving us the chance!

Homemade cake and ice cream are the typical birthday treats here. I'm not picky about the flavor.

Cheesecake is my favorite. Any kind is good, but I had a white chocolate with raspberry one at a restaurant one time that was great!
Thanks for your generous blog candy! Looks like a great book!

Yeah on the Costco cakes! That's what we had for Molly last year. I nearly always make my own -chocolate chocolate with chocolate frosting. I kinda like chocolate. Did you guess?

I love sweets, so I could go with all kinds of treats. I like Boston Cream Pie, angel food cake layered with rainbow sherbert and "iced" with cool whip, ice cream cake, or those bite size cream puffs. Of course there needs to be ice cream depending on the cake, and since its my birthday . . . chocolate candy. (Can you tell I am on my "after the holidays straighten out your eating habits" plan. I don't eat all this stuff, but I sure think about it.

We usually don't have sweets on my birthday, but last year, we went out to dinner and I had two desserts: chocolate lava cake that I ordered and a berry and cream parfait from the restaurant because it was my birthday. Yum!

Thanks for the giveaway!

I'm all about ice cream. Anyway: cake, tub, anything as long as it's ice cream. (but lately I tend to migrate towards the low fat items).
