Lemon Book give-a-way!

Whoo hoo! I've been waiting for my turn to give-a-way a copy of When live give you lemons... by Sherry Steveson.
This book gave me the PERFECT reason to scrap some of those BAD pictures you've taken but, can't 'redo' them.

Here are 2 of my layouts that are in the book.

The 1st one, 'the cake', has 1 of those classic birthday photos of a kid blowing out candles in very low lighting. The photo is blurry and horribly lit. The story though is what is important here. So, if you know my scrapping, this layout definitely has more journaling than normal. I absolutely love that I was pushed to do this layout. The 2nd layout shows more poorly lit and blurry photos taken of my daughter on the merry-go-round. This was at least the 4th time she rode the darn thing that day at Kings Island. To minimize the poor photos, I cropped them down to thin strips and veried the heights to create some movement too.

I hope you get the idea of what might be in the book. Sherry goes into ways to fix your photos a bit in photo editing software too. So many different ways to work with those 'Lemons' of photos that we ALL take and don't usually make ourselves scrap.

Why don't you tell me a way you may have 'fixed'/scrapped a bad photo or what you have done if you have 'missed' the moment and still scrapped it. Leave a comment by Thursday, noon EST to win!

Good Luck!

p.s. Check out this fun new challenge blog that Suzanne Quillen has started. It's kinda fun to see layouts through her eyes! This week she played DSI with my 'Disney Diva' layout.

I really love all the journaling on your birthday cake photo - so glad to know I'm not the only one with bad bd cake pics! lol - and that merry-go-round page is just adorable!

I love the layouts! Sometimes the poor photos can make the layout!

I love the merry-go-round one! Looks so cool w/ the different size pics. Bday party pics always come out the worst for me. What I've done in the past is to just use smaller photos of the action, then jazz it up w/ a big accent (for example - the age of the Bday celebrant!). Thanks for the chance to win - looks like this book would be a good investment for me. ;)

What a great idea for a book. And I also love how you used pink for a boy page.

Oh my goodness I think I have to buy this book. I have so many lemon photos. With 3 kids someone is always giving someone bunny ears or sticking out their tongue. I try to pick the best pic I have and work with that. It's not always easy though. :)

Awesome pages! I wouldn't have called those photos "lemons" at all :)

When I have only a "lemon" photo to use, I just go with it. I'd probably mention something about it in the journalling, but otherwise I don't know what I would do to work with the photo!

I like the merry go round page! In the process of trying to get the "perfect" picture, I usually end up missing it and getting lots of lemons. So, I use lots of little lemons on a page and don't have focus on any one picture and try to get a big flashy title.

Sometimes I convert to black and white and that helps to hide blurring or bad coloring a bit.
Thanks for this chance!

I haven't done much scrapbooking but your pics have encouraged me to get to it! I love the merry-go-round pics sliced up... I have a similar picture from my own birthday! Who knows I might give it a whirl! thanks so much Rose

I always seem to wind up with photos that have something distracting to one side or the other of the main person. I find a creative way with embellishments to cover up the distraction.

I have few way I 'fixed'/scrapped a bad photo. One is to treat as a good phots and use as is. It is in the eye of the beholder :>. Another is I crop as much of the bad portion out or cover the the bad portion with emblelishment. Another is use a smaller size of the bad photo with bigger size of good photo. But I think a photo is to have memory of the moment. Bad or good they are all GOOD.

Sometimes bad photos really do tell the story. Like my daughter always being out of focus because she never holds still!

These layouts turned out great. Thanks for the inspiration to go ahead and use those "imperfect" pics!

Your LOs are so wonderful! I love how you were able to embrace your "bad" photos. Thanks for the chance to win this fun book! I have a lot of lemons over here, and I could use the lemonade!

Love the layouts!
And that book looks great!
I usually have plenty of blurred photos of my DS, but I scrap them anyway, cause it shows him being him...non-stop!
Sometimes I do trim/crop or print them small, but most of the time I just go with the flow!

Love how you improvised to make the most of the photos you have. I guess I would say I rely on cropping and creative positioning to deal with my not-so-stellar photos. I think this book would be a great help in my time of need. lol! Thanks for the chance to win!

BTW, this is my first visit, but I will be back!

Both of these are wonderful photos. Just coming back from DisneyWorld, I have a lot of bad photos, but I'm gonna scrap them anyway. Usually they were bad because of too much movement, and that's disney!

Sounds like a great book. When I have a bad photo I usually try to help it out in my photo editing program and in other cases just use the photo and maybe cover up things in the photo that I don't want with embellishments. Thanks for the giveaway.

That was really great to see the blurred/lowlight pictures used. I have many such pictures and everyone tells me to get rid of them! I know who is in the picture.....

We have some pictures of the first time my daughter rode the merry go round, and like your photos, they're just not very good - a lot of blurry ones.

But I think I'm going to use your idea and cut the pictures into columns and vary their heights - I love the way it looks!!

Paint paint paint...It's amazing what a little swoosh or two of MM paint around a bad photo can do!
Your LO's ROCK!

Fabulous idea for a book since we've all been there! I just scrap the photo(s) anyway even if they aren't to my liking. It's the memories, right?!
