Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop

\
HI! Welcome to my blog as part of the Operation Write Home Memorial Day blog hop. The hop begins back at the OWH website. (It will be live at 10am EST on Saturday). Please take your time and hop through the blogs. This is one group that has my heart.

While my husband was in Iraq a little over a year ago, his unit received cards from OWH. He was lucky and was able to grab 3 cards to send home to us. He sent one to each of our children and one to me. Even though we chatted via web cam and instant messenger, there was nothing like getting a card from him with his hand writing inside. So THANK YOU to everyone who has ever donated their time and talent to this group. I have experienced 1st hand how wonderful a simple card can make a soldier's family member feel.

Also, thank you to all the servicemen and women out there and the sacrifices you make and have made. And I wanted to take a moment to honor the 2 fallen soldiers of my husbands unit. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice Sgt. Henry and Spec. Menke. You will never be forgotten.

Ok, enough jabbering... Let's get to the card! The theme for this hop was Red, White and Blue and "Missing You". Well...that was easy! I just received some of the new 4th of July themed papers from We R Memory Keepers. All I had to do was write in the sentiment on the flag banners with a black pen.

Now on to the next blog. Please jump on over to Brittany's beautiful blog. Thanks for stopping by and taking time this weekend to remember what it's all about.

Have a good one!

Sweet CAS card and to the point! Thank you and your husband for your service to our country! That's exactly why I make cards for OWH. You can't save a phone call, although if it's web cam I'm sure it's great to see his face, you don't print out an email and save it ~ but a card with his handwriting, THAT you save!

Hi Kimber Sweetie...
I am Country Wings your newest follower. I love your blog.

Loved the card you made. So precious and I know it will touch someones heart on the other side. What a beautiful banner and message and the colors are so perfect. Outstanding job.

I have never made a card and you along with the other wonderful ladies in this blog hop have inspired me to try. I would love to make some for the soldiers too. I have been shut in now for over a month with my lungs and have been searching for something I could do from my recliner. I have found it. I am going to search for something around the house to make a few cards with.

Please pop over and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well. I love meeting new friends.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

Love the card & the banner paper! Thanks for all you do for OWH & supporting the men in women in the armed forces. Thanks for sharing your story & the sacrifice your family makes while your husband is serving our great nation.
